KICK A$$

Yesterday I went to the Fashion Valley Mall (the most beautiful SD mall) to return a hat that just wasn't doing it for me at the GAP.  Rather then enjoy the few extra bucks that the return put into my account a bought a few things that I DESPERATELY needed!!! ALL ON SALE I MIGHT ADD!!

FONDUE POT FOR TWO FROM CRATE & BARREL

LEOPARD PRINT FLOPS FROM EXPRESS

BREAKFAST
Feeling better this morning.  The Apple Cider Vinegar worked like a charm for the stomach ache last night but soon after that went away a headache came on! UGH!

This morning I was feeling a little more hungry then the usual fruit would suffice so this.....

Became this...
1 TBSP CEDAR'S GARLIC LOVERS HUMMUS + 100% THOMAS WHOLE WHEAT BAGEL THINS + OMELET ( 2 EGG WHITES + 1 LAUGHING COW SWISS WEDGE + 50 GRAMS OSCAR MAYER'S BROWN SUGAR HAM) + 1OO GRAMS WATERMELON & CANTALOUPE

GYM
Biggest kick a$$ day ever at the gym!!!!  I put together a 1 hour mix on my ipod and vowed to go through all of it and at a pretty intense [ace for me.  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!  I definitely felt like I was going to puke at some points but I didn't stop!!!!

LUNCH
After such an intense gym visit I deserved a great protein shake/fro yo.  I used a protein packet that I got at Henry's for 25% off the other day and made an AMAZING YUMMY booster for my day.
1 PACKET NATURE'S PATH SPIRUTEIN NUTTY BERRY BURST + ICE + BANANA + 1 CUP ALMOND BREEZE UNSWEETENED ALMOND MILK

DINNER
Yesterday when I went on my cooking fest, I decided to try my hand at some Thai food.  I think it turned out pretty good however I used a pre-made curry and I didn't realize how high the fat content was til I sat down to figure out the stats of the meal.  I will definitely be making more Curry dishes again however I will be making my own sauce!!!

SNACK
Dark chocolate wedge from Trader Joe's.  I've NEVER been a fan of dark chocolate.  I'm more of a milk chocolate girl but after reading about how good the dark stuff is I've been forcing myself to eat it and I have to admit I'm growing very fond of the milk-less variety of my snack.
I'm amazing that just a small piece totally satisfies my chocolate craving.  I don't think I can say this about milk chocolate.

White Trash Party Night!!!!

SARA LEE BAKES

BREAKFAST
Started off the day with a cup of Green Tea today instead of the usual coffee.  I really have been drinking WAY too much coffee (6 cups a day?).

I had a buffet of fruit again!!!

WATERMELON + CANTALOUPE + RASPBERRIES + BLACKBERRIES

Also tried a piece of the Ryvita flatbread I bought yesterday.  It was dry as flatbreads are but the texture was fun.  I didn't think it really had a pumpkin taste to it though but I guess it shouldn't because there are only a few seeds on it.
Ryvita Pumpkin Seeds and Oats Crispbread

From Ryvita's website:

"What's in the Ryvita name? "Ry" is short for rye, the main ingredient of our skillfully oven baked, deliciously tasty crispbread. "Vita" is Italian for life. Ryvita crispbread is a good source of fiber and gets it distinctive flavor from whole grain rye making a great alternative to wheat crackers.

What is a low glycemic index (Gi) food? Low Gi foods are digested slowly providing a gradual release of sugar in the bloodstream. This sustains energy levels.

Ryvita Pumpkin Seeds and Oats crispbread topped with whole pumpkin seeds and oats to make a delicious subtly sweet & nutty tasting crispbread"

LUNCH
Typical day filled of shopping and lunch on the go.  Had some freeze dried fruit chips from the great Mrs. May's.  I love these things!  So tasty and with all the benefits of eating an apple without worrying about it going bad.

After the mall I had a baking/cooking extravaganza!

DINNER
Homemade falafel which was really simple.  Threw a can of Garbanzo beans in The Bullet with some spices and garlic.  It was good.  Not as good as the VeggiePatch Falafel Chickpea Balls that I tried last week, but the balls I made were fat-free and only 110 calories a serving.
I used the falafel to make a small dinner salad.  Unfortunately my pantry is starting to empty out so salad was lacking it's usual mound of veggies and fun additions :( I will have to make this again with Greek olives, roasted red peppers, and some artichoke hearts.
2 CUPS SPINACH + WESTERN BAGEL PLAIN ALTERNATIVE PITA + 2 TBSP CEDAR'S GARLIC LOVERS HUMMUS + 2 TBSP HOT PEPPER RINGS + 2 FALAFEL BALLS + 2 TBSP TRADER JOE'S TZATZIKI

I made some Oatmeal Protein Cookies for Boyfriend and some Peanut Butter brownies for a friend's birthday.  The Oatmeal Cookies could have been a tad sweeter and needed a little something else: raisins, chocolate drizzle, chocolate chips, etc.

The Peanut Butter brownies were low fat!!!!  I put a peanut butter drizzle on top of regular brownies and they sunk a bit.  Boyfriend said they were still good but I don't think they were pretty and half of food is about presentation:(

I wasn't feeling well (tummy was a bit achy) so Boyfriend gave me a shot...of Apple Cider Vinegar.  A few years back I got the worst food poisoning.  Boyfriend did a Google search for a natural remedy and Apple Cider Vinegar came up.  I thought I'd give it a shot and amazingly enough it worked!!!!  So now whenever I have a slight pain in my stomach out comes the Apple Cider Vinegar.

TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY

Woke up on the right side of the bed today!!  Ran some errands (bought some new soft Calvin Klein pillows!), went to Whole Foods, and got a nice run in!!!

BREAKFAST
Some overnight oats and a yummy cup of blueberry coffee.  I added a bit too much liquid to the oats and they were very soupy but I still devoured the whole bowl!  Next time, less almond milk or pumpkin!

OATS + PUMPKIN + ALMOND BREEZE UNSWEETENED VANILLA MILK + RAISINS

LUNCH
MOJO CLIF Mountain Bar after the gym for a quick protein fix because I was out and about and not about to prepare my usual shake or salad.  When I got home I munched on some fiber goodness a la berries!!

Raspberries

Strawberries

Blackberries

DINNER
Simple and not very exciting.  Roasted sweet potatoes and some slices of turkey.  This is what dinner is when I have to do some fridge cleaning.  I can't wait til all this crap is gone.
OSCAR MAYER'S HONEY ROASTED TURKEY BREAST + 50 GRAMS SWEET POTATOES WITH GARLIC POWDER, SALT, & PEPPER + 1 TBSP DELI MUSTARD + 1 TSP KETCHUP

Some fun eats from my brief Whole Food's visit.  I REALLY shouldn't be buying anymore food but everything I got was on sale or I had a coupon for it.
Never had these two below before so I'm excited to try!

GYM
Little run at the gym.  I've been lazy lately and I really wanted to kick my butt today.  I didn't go far but I did some nice HIIT.  All-in-all very happy with today's run!
Tomorrow I'm going to go for a one hour run with a new song mix I made.  Kind of excited about that.

NO FOOD POST

Not having a good day.

Whenever I get down I think of the scene from Breakfast at Tiffany's...

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then - then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

I couldn't find the exact clip from the movie but here is a continuation of the theme...

FAIR FUN!

Yesterday Boyfriend and I went to the San Diego Fair at the Del Mar Racetrack.  It was a blast!!  The fair is known for it's odd fried food.  The first year we went, Boyfriend and I had Fried Frog Legs.  Last year we munched on Fried Avocado.  This year Boyfriend and I had...
FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH WITH RASPBERRY JAM AND HONEY

FRIED KLONDIKE BAR
BEAST OF A BANANA SPLIT!!!
And some rides of course!!

BREAKFAST
Diced watermelon cut yesterday!

LUNCH
Repeat Egg Salad.  This is soooo good and I really don't miss the mayo.  I do need to get some celery salt.  I think this would make the egg salad complete!

DINNER
Another try of a Kashi meal.  I wasn't really looking for this one but it had a $1.50 off sticker on it so I thought I'd give it a try for $3.50.  It was really good of course.  I couldn't even tell the chicken was frozen.  The veggies were crisp and the buckwheat was amazing!!!  I can't wait until this brand is on sale so that I can fill my fridge.  This is one of the only frozen meals I've ever had that actually looks like the picture when made.

FRUIT OVERLOAD

I went to Henry's yesterday and bought a cantaloupe, raspberries, and a watermelon because they were massively cheep!  It always amazes me how stores charge like $7 for cup-up fruit!!!  The fruit was on sale and all together it cost me $5!!!

Now the problem is that my fridge is PACKED with watermelon and cantaloupe.  I will probably be eating it for every meal for the next week and I'll probably still have tons left!!

BREAKFAST
Fresh cantaloupe from Henry's!

LUNCH
Life gave me eggs...so I made egg salad!  (Corny, I know!)  Boyfriend bought bunches of eggs and didn't want to eat them so I was more then happy to adopt them.  Boiled them, popped out the egg yolks (gave 'em to the gliders), and threw it on a bagel.  YUM!

NATURE'S OWN THIN SLICE 100% WHOLE WHEAT BAGEL + 3 HARD BOILED EGG WHITES + 1 TBSP KRAFT DIJONNAISE + 4 SLICES SANDWICH THIN PICKLES

GYM/SNACK
I've been riding my bike to the gym lately but I had to give it a rest today because my a$$ is sore...lol!!  I guess I needed to get a more padded seat.  Instead I decided to walk and it was actually very pleasant.  It's only a mile away and it was beautiful out.  Walking also manages to add a few more steps onto my pedometer so I can't complain with that!

I tried experimenting with a new shake recipe.  I've had a box of TAZO Matcha Green Tea Latte concentrate sitting in my pantry for a few months now and I realized today that it was going to go bad next month so I'll have to find some interesting ways to incorporate in into my meals over the next few weeks.
1 CUP ALMOND BREEZE UNSWEETENED ALMOND MILK + 1/2 BANANA + 1 TBSP SPLENDA + 1/2 TSP VANILLA EXTRACT + 1/2 PACKET MRM 100% NATURAL WHEY RICH VANILLA + 120 ML TAZO MATCHA GREEN TEA LATTE

This was very good and a definite repeater!!!

DINNER
Amazing!!  Beast of a salad.  I was really craving portobello mushrooms today.  I threw one in the oven with some raspberry vinegar, garlic, and some dijon mustard.  This was so good and filling!

100 GRAMS PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM + MIXED BABY GREENS + 1 OZ TRADER JOE'S GOAT'S MILK CREAMY CHEESE + 1/2 TOMATO + TRADER JOE'S FIRE ROASTED RED PEPPER + 2 TBSP TRADER JOE'S FAT FREE BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE

MORE baking goodness!!!!  Mini cupcakes!

These are brownies for Boyfriend.  There were a lot more, but he likes to consume brownies by the 1/2 dozen at a time!
